The Engine-EarZ are more than just a dubstep band, they're an outfit with a difference. With an individual style and a hard cutting edge, Engine-EarZ have made a huge impact since they were officially formed in November 2008 when their first single 'Kaliyuga' was played on Radio 1. This kicked off support from a number of Radio 1 DJs and led to their BBC Maida Vale session being blogged around the world, creating a following before a single had even been released.
SONNYJI (BBC Asian Network)
Started a 6 year residency at SHAANTI where he pioneered a sound known as Desi House. Bhangra sounds mixed live with House & Techno to create something fresh. In 2003 his sound won him ‘Best Asian underground DJ’ by readers of Realbhangra.com. It’s where he also DJ’d alongside the likes of Talvin Singh, Nitin Sawhney, Asian Dub Foundation & Robert Miles to name a few.
2007 saw Sonnyji join the BBC Asiannetwork with his new show ‘The Bhangra Mixtape’. The aim was to bring in a new flava, taking Bhangra into new territory. The Mixtape has been a success with all camps due to its huge crossover appeal. Since it’s inception it’s been the most listened to show on the network.
JUTTLA
Juttla enter into his third decade actively releasing music. The year kicked off with him being commissioned to remix ‘Designer Girl’ by 10Shott aka Tenny Tenn who then went on to tour with chart-topping names such as Chipmunk, Tinie Tempah, Skepta and Mr. Hudson. Juttla got commissioned to remix the awesome ‘Heavy Rotation’ from DMC Mixing Champions The Disablists and UK’s number one live Hip-Hop act Foreign Beggars.
